Paris Hilton pushes programming buttons at Nine


In search of new programs to launch into the competitive local market, the network heads swapped Nine's Willoughby bunker for the opulent confines of Paris Hilton's Beverly Hills mansion in Mulholland Estates.

But there's no need for Gyngell's wife Leila McKinnon to get all Sophie Monk on us just yet - the TV types' visit was in the name of business, not pleasure.

The manicured marketing machine that is the heiress Hilton will next week begin filming her latest reality series for MTV ahead of its US debut later this year.

And with plans to push Paris Hilton's My New BFF into international markets, the bimbo turned businesswoman - together with her rocker beau Benji Madden - invited around 30 TV execs to her plush pile for a networking love-in.

Shopping herself and the concept around the loungeroom of her Mediterranean-style home, Hilton homed in on programming director Healy after discovering he was Australian.

Confidential hears the party princess - who has visited Sydney several times - told Healy she'd happily come to Australia to film a local version of the series.

"Paris told Michael she'd love to come to Australia to do the show and find a new best friend here," a Nine spokeswoman said.

"He was quite impressed with Paris and said she was a total professional - apparently she made the effort to speak to everyone who attended the party."

Both Healy and Gyngell were due to return to Sydney today.
