Beckham bomb scare

David Beckham was at the centre of a terrifying terrorist plot after police stopped a plan to blow up Real Madrid's football ground, it has been revealed.

Islamic extremists in Spain had planned to bomb the Bernabeu stadium where the England football captain and his teammates play football every other week.

A police source said: "Thousands of people pack into Real Madrid's ground every other weekend. It would have been a massacre."

Beckham's pregnant wife, former Spice Girl Victoria, often goes to the ground to watch the matches, along with the couple's two children, Brooklyn, five, and Romeo, two.

The group - who were arrested last week - are thought to be loosely linked to the Madrid train bombers.

The terrorist plot is the latest security threat to the family.

Earlier this year, it was reported that extremists were set to bomb Brooklyn's school, Runnymeade College, although they never carried out their threat.

The family have also been subject to many kidnapping attempts, including one in 2002 where kidnappers were set to take Victoria and the boys and hold them ransom for £5million.

Meanwhile, Victoria has revealed she and David want to move to Los Angeles when he retires from football.
